Preparations for Term of Office

September throuh December before Term Begins

Review policies and procedures of CMS via the following:

• Get acquainted with Wesite for the Board of Directors – http://www.board.music.org

• Get acquainted with the CMS Handbook of Policies and Procedures, noting especially sections devoted to:

• Board of Directors
• Your Board Office
• Questions? Direct them to:
  • Your Board predecessor (Roster available here)
    
  • President of CMS (Roster available here)

• Touch base with Board predecessor concerning Advisory Committee's plans and initiatives

November

Board Members representing the areas of music should select their Advisory Council members.  Advisory Councils include the Board Member as Chair and at least 3 additional members, 4 or 5 desirable; consider diversity of experiences in the profession, interests, as well as geographic and institutional mix. In can be helpful to invite the outgoing Board Member to continue as a member of the Advisory committee.

Fall

Attend the National Conference and be introduced at the Annual Meeting of the CMS Membership.

December 1

Deadline for notifying President of Advisory Council membership

January 1 - Begin 1st Year Term of Office

January-November

Begin conversations with Advisory Council.  CMS makes available its video conference system for meetings of Advisory Councils.  Advisory Council develops proposals for the National Conference for the following year

Fall

Attend National Conference and fall Board of Directors meeting.

December 15

Submit annual report of Advisory Council activities to CMS Executive Office.

January 1 - 2nd Year in Office

Notify the CMS President of any changes in Advisory Council.

January-November

Continue conversations with Advisory Council.  CMS makes available its video conference system for meetings of Advisory Councils.  Advisory Council develops proposals for the National Conference for the following year
